CareAI is designed to support wellbeing and care coordination. These guidelines help you use CareAI safely.
1. Medical safety
- CareAI is not a medical device and does not diagnose or treat conditions.
- Always follow a clinician's advice for medication and treatment. Do not use CareAI's informational content to make medical decisions without consulting a qualified healthcare professional.
- Confirm medication names, dosages, and schedules before relying on reminders. Verify all medication information with your healthcare provider.
- Medication information is informational only. Any medication information displayed in CareAI, including information from FDA/OpenFDA sources, is for educational and reference purposes only. It should not be used for dosing, prescribing, or diagnostic purposes.
- No personalized dosing or prescribing. CareAI does not provide dosing recommendations, prescribing guidance, or personalized treatment advice.
2. Chat and AI assistance safety
- Chat responses are not medical advice. CareAI's chat features provide informational responses based on publicly available data and general knowledge. These responses should not be used to make medical decisions.
- Consult qualified professionals. Chat responses do not replace consultation with qualified healthcare professionals. Always consult a healthcare professional for medical advice, diagnosis, and treatment.
- AI may be inaccurate. AI responses may not be accurate, complete, or appropriate for your specific medical situation. Always verify important information with qualified professionals.
- "Ask My Doctor" is a communication tool only. The "Ask My Doctor" feature facilitates communication between you and your linked doctor. CareAI does not provide medical advice through this feature. Any medical advice comes from your linked doctor in their independent professional capacity.
3. Emergency safety
- Do not rely solely on CareAI for emergencies. CareAI is not an emergency service and cannot guarantee detection, notification, or response.
- In urgent situations, call your local emergency number immediately (e.g., 911, 112, or your local emergency number).
- Distress detection is not guaranteed. CareAI's distress signal detection features are provided on a "best effort" basis and may fail to detect all distress signals.
- Escalation notifications are not guaranteed. Notifications to care team members may be delayed or fail due to technical limitations.
- Do not wait for CareAI's features. Emergency situations require immediate professional medical attention. Do not delay seeking emergency care based on CareAI's features or responses.
4. Account and privacy safety
- Use strong passwords and keep your device locked.
- Only link/invite trusted care team members.
- Review permissions and disable access you do not need (microphone, notifications, etc.).
- Regularly review your linked care team members and remove access for anyone you no longer trust.
5. Communication safety
- Use respectful language and do not share sensitive information unnecessarily.
- Report abusive or suspicious behavior to support@careai.app.
- Be aware that chat content may be processed for distress detection and may be shared with linked care team members when authorized.
6. Device and connectivity
- Some features require stable internet and notification permissions.
- If you see errors or missing data, verify internet connectivity and retry.
- Ensure your device's emergency calling features are enabled and functional.
- Keep your app updated to the latest version for security and reliability improvements.
7. Responsible reliance
- Use CareAI as a support tool, not a replacement for professional care.
- Verify important information with qualified healthcare professionals.
- Do not make medical decisions based solely on CareAI's informational content.
- Seek professional medical care when needed, especially in emergency situations.
- Understand the limitations of AI-assisted features and distress detection.
8. When to seek professional help
You should seek immediate professional medical help if:
- You are experiencing a medical emergency
- You have concerns about your health or medication
- You need medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment
- You are experiencing mental health distress or crisis
